![]() Blue Line = CobbTuning 335i Sport Tune, Red Line = MAP Tuner Jordan's ECU Adjustments.Īfter tuning, we were very happy with the CobbTuning off-the-shelf options and still believe that the CobbTuning power packages are a great way of earning some extra ponies. We were able to pull an additional 8 whp / 22wtq from the CobbTuning 335i Sport Tune. Below is a comparison of Jordan's tune versus the Cobb Sport. Lastly, we were interested to see how our tuner stacks up against the best performing Cobb Tuning 335i off-the-shelf tune. Blue Line = Walnut Blasting Results, Red Line = In-house Tune After all was said and done, we gained 73whp / 105wtq compared to the walnut media blasted dyno. We quickly did a few more pulls, adjusting between each to see the results. We loaded up the Cobb Tuning 335i Sport tune, and our in-house tuner Jordan went to work modifying the fuel maps and adjusting timing. Blue Line = Walnut Blasting Results, Red Line = Cobb Tuning 335i Aggressive TuneĪfter that run, we were eager to see what we could do to modify Cobb's best performing off-the-shelf tune. Either way, the Cobb Tuning 335i ECU tunes are a great way to pull a few extra horses out of the 335i's N54 powerplant! Notice how the Sport tune netted a few more wheel-horsepower, while the difference in wheel-torque was nearly the same as the Aggressive tune? We think this may be related to the subtle differences that affect the tune of the car, such as fuel quality, and in some cases elevation. The results below show the Aggressive tune with drop-in filter versus the Walnut Blasting. We loaded up the Cobb Tuning 335i Aggressive OTS ECU map and ran it alongside their drop-in filter and performed another 3 pull run. Blue Line = Walnut Blasting Results, Red Line = Cobb Tuning 335i Sport Tuneįrom there, we experimented with another of the Cobb Tuning 335i Off-the-Shelf tunes to see what else could be pulled out of the Twin-Turbocharged N54. The power gains were very noticeable, improving 65whp / 83wtq just from the drop-in filter and a Sport tune. After the impressive power gains attained from the Walnut Blasting, we installed Cobb's drop-in filter and loaded up CobbTuning's Sport Off-the-Shelf tune. More on that process can be found on our blog post here. Check it out below!īefore we did any tuning on the stock N54, we performed a Walnut Media Blasting service on the intake ports of the engine. We took a few minutes to install the Cobb AcessPORT and drop-in filter in our BMW 335i, and via our dyno we've documented our results. We purchased their stage 1 Power Package which includes a CobbTuning 335i drop-in intake filter and the AccessPORT V3 module. While this particular kit is a popular upgrade for the 335i, not much documentation is available showing the differences in power and torque of the N54 with the Filter and Tune installed. ![]() COBB offers the AccessPort in various kits for the BMW 335i known as ' CobbTuning 335i Power Packages', with other components such as intercoolers and intakes, or as a standalone item. In many cases, an AccessPORT allows you to select different off-the-shelf tunes, each affecting the performance of the car. The AccessPORT handheld tuner offers installation of different BMW ECU tunes via a small device through the OBD-II Port. The results were surprising!Ĭobb Tuning is one of the most well known ECU Tuning companies that specialize in BMW's and other European and Japanese cars. We installed the Cobb Tuning 335i ECU tunes on our BMW Project car, then ran it on the Dyno to test the differences in aggressiveness.
